Saturday’s are usually filled with errands, to do lists, and a combination of getting things done and relaxing around our house. Usually we’ll make a late brunch and then a early dinner.
For breakfast we made pancakes & eggs. Since it was around 10am by the time we ate, no one was really hungry for lunch and everyone had either snacks, fruit, or made a PB&J sandwich in the afternoon. We had purchased 3 flats of strawberries the week before from a discount produce group and had picked them up in the morning so it was officially “Strawberry jam making day” and we all pitched in to make the jam. See the post & recipe here.
For dinner we went to our neighbors house. They had smoked a brisket, so we made some chicken wings we had in the freezer, and a strawberry pretzel dessert. Get the recipe here.
- Pancakes & eggs breakfast- $4.00
- Chicken wings- $8.00
- Strawberry Pretzel Dessert- $5.00
Total cost for this day: $17.00
Running Total Budget for the 30 days used:
Groceries purchased: $567.10
Groceries used in meals: $268.75
Date Night: $74.33
Our budget for these 3 for the 30 days is: Groceries- $600, Date Nights- $100 & Pizza- $100 Since we may not use all the groceries purchased in this time, and will be using some things we have on hand already, we will be tracking both the running total of the best estimated cost of meals each day as well as the cost of groceries/date nights/pizza purchased during the 30 days.
