Ribbon sandwiches are a layered mini sandwich served as a finger food or appetizer at parties or wedding receptions. They are very easy to make and can be done weeks in advance and frozen until the event.
If you are doing your own wedding reception food to save money this is a great item to serve!
The bread has to be custom ordered from a bakery or your grocery store bakery and can be customized to whatever color you want. Below are a few different filling ideas and a tutorial video:
- Spam filling:
- 3 cans of Spam
- 2 c Mayo
- 1/3 c Mustard
- Chicken filling:
- 3 cans of chicken
- 1 c mayo
- 3 stalks of celery
- 2 green onions
- Pineapple filling:
- 4- 8oz cream cheese
- 1 can crushed pineapple (drained)
- Cherry filling:
- 1 jar of cherries
- 2-3 - 8oz cream cheese
- Peanut butter & honey filling:
- equal parts of peanut butter & honey
- Cheese filling:
- Jar of cheese spread
Blend the ingredients for each filling with a food processor to get them fine but not a paste. (you don't want chunks in your filling)
Do a variety of filling combinations between your ribbon bread slices.
