This recipe is the best homemade biscuit recipe from scratch I’ve ever made. And from now on it will be the only recipe I make. They bake up into a huge fluffy biscuit.
The recipe will make 2 cookie sheets full of biscuits, about 30 or so. This is based on using a wide mouth mason jar to cut the dough circles.
Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 9 cups flour
- 1/2 c sugar
- 1 1/2 t. salt
- 3 T baking powder
- 1 1/2 t. cream of tartar
- 4 cubes (2 c.) of butter- cold and cut into small chunks
- 3 eggs
- 3 cups cold milk
- 3 t. vanilla
- 1/2 cube butter (melted)
Instructions
Mix all the dry ingredients together. Then add the cold butter chunks and work through the dough with a cutter or your hands until the butter is about the size of a pea or smaller. Then add wet ingredients and mix together.
Turn the dough out on a floured surface and roll out until 1" thick. Using a wide mouth mason jar cut circles out of the dough and place them on a greased cookie sheet. Combine the dough scraps and continue to roll out and cut circles until all the dough is used.
Bake at 450 degrees for about 20 minutes or until the biscuits start to get golden brown on top.
Brush with melted butter as soon as the biscuits come out of the oven.
