One of my favorite ways of saving money is to find or create copycat recipes of some of our favorite things to order at restaurants. More often than not we end up preferring the copycat over the real one- which leads to less desire to eat out. It’s a win-win!
And with recent events, you may be missing some of your favorite restaurants too! This is a great substitution.
This is a recipe I’ve made for years. It’s great for parties, or game nights. You can put it in a crockpot to keep it warm, but it also reheats well for leftovers too.
So there’s no confusion, I’m linking some of the ingredients as well. It really does make a difference if you don’t use the right ones! Luckily most can be delivered to your door these days!

- 1 can hormel chili (no beans)
- 16 oz velveeta cheese (cut into chunks)
- 1 t. chili powder
