Day 1 of our 30 days of W8A. I wanted to start this on a Wednesday because that’s the day that the store sales start each week where I live.
Typically the store ads will arrive in the mail on Tuesday, which gives us time to look over and see what’s on sale, then we base the next week’s menu on what’s on sale.
On Day 1 the kids had cold cereal for breakfast (those that ate breakfast), all the kids were at school for lunch except our youngest. Our youngest, my husband and myself typically have either a sandwich or leftovers for lunch.
For dinner this day I put some ribs in the crockpot and made my BBQ baked beans for a side.
What it cost: $12.56
The ribs I had in the freezer from a really good sale a few weeks before. As you can see from the picture below, we paid about 1/3 of the normal price. These 2 racks of ribs would have normally cost us $34.64, but we paid only $12.56
The bbq baked beans were made with all ingredients we had on hand. You can see the recipe here.
Total Budget for the 30 days used:
Date Night: $0
Our budget for these 3 for the 30 days is: Groceries- $600, Date Nights- $100 & Pizza- $100 Since we may not use all the groceries purchased in this time we will be tracking both the cost of meals each day as well as the cost of groceries/date nights/pizza purchased during the 30 days. See our grocery trip posts to see a tally of those purchases.
