Sunday’s often become a lazy/relaxing day for my family. For a brunch we made some cream cheese filled pumpkin muffins. Get the recipe here. Or you can watch the tutorial video below. (feel free to like & subscribe- it’s our sister-blog’s youtube channel)
For lunch we had leftovers, and snacking throughout the day not many of us were even hungry for an official lunch.
For dinner it was my hubby’s night to be in charge of dinner. He had been telling us about a really cool food truck in Oregon that made grilled cheese hamburgers and how he made them at home once and they were delicious. So we decided we were all brave enough to give it a try! He made a bunch of grilled cheese sandwiches (basically what you use instead of a bun) and I cooked some burgers on the grill, then we assembled them just like you would a hamburger. They were GOOD!! HUGE, but good. I could only eat half of mine, and our 2 little girls had a hard time getting that first bite to fit their mouth. But it was a fun meal to make and a fun experience.
All of the food used on this day were things we had on hand, so the approximate cost for everything is:
- 2 spice cake mixes- $2.00
- 1 large can of pumpkin puree- $1.88
- 1 cube cream cheese $1.39
- 1/2 bag of powdered sugar $0.50
- Grilled cheese buns- $3.00
- Hamburger patties- $5.00
- Tomatoes, pickles & condiments- $2.00
Total cost for this day: $15.77
Running Total Budget for the 30 days used:
Groceries purchased: $567.10
Groceries used in meals: $188.44
Date Night: $74.33
Our budget for these 3 for the 30 days is: Groceries- $600, Date Nights- $100 & Pizza- $100 Since we may not use all the groceries purchased in this time, and will be using some things we have on hand already, we will be tracking both the running total of the best estimated cost of meals each day as well as the cost of groceries/date nights/pizza purchased during the 30 days.
