Day 22 was typical again when it came to breakfast and lunches. We really are pretty boring for breakfast & lunch. But for dinner this day we made homemade mac & cheese. My family always loves it, and there’s an endless number of ways it can be customized and made slightly different. For this dinner I used up a can of fiesta nacho cheese we had in the pantry, and the last 4 cheddar bacon hotdog/sausages. It made enough that each person had at least second helpings (a few of them even had thirds) and there was leftovers for about 4 more servings. You can get the Homemade Mac & Cheese recipe here.
This meal breakdown is as follows:
- 1 bag of pasta- $0.44 (remember I got all those on sale!?!?)
- 1 can of fiesta nacho cheese- $0.89
- 2 c. shredded cheese- $3.00
- 4 hotdog/sausages- $1.00
Total cost for this day: $5.33
Running Total Budget for the 30 days used:
Groceries purchased: $567.10
Groceries used in meals: $219.07
Date Night: $74.33
Our budget for these 3 for the 30 days is: Groceries- $600, Date Nights- $100 & Pizza- $100 Since we may not use all the groceries purchased in this time, and will be using some things we have on hand already, we will be tracking both the running total of the best estimated cost of meals each day as well as the cost of groceries/date nights/pizza purchased during the 30 days.
