DAY 23

by A to Z for Moms Like Me

No surprises on this day, breakfast & lunches for all of us is the same as every day during the week. Easy breakfasts for those that eat it, usually cereal or instant oatmeal or toast, and lunches are either at school, or home where the 3 of us that are here for lunch have leftovers.

For dinner I put a pork roast we had in the freezer into the crockpot. Being in the mood to try something different I seasoned it differently than I usually do to make more of a Mexican style & flavor. You can get the recipe here. We put the pulled pork inside some small corn tortillas that we heated up in some olive oil and added a little cheese, salsa, and sour cream to make them street tacos! They were so good EVERYONE in the family scarfed them down (even my 4 year old had seconds) we had enough left over to last us 2 more days of meals worth.

The cost of the dinner:

  • Pork roast- $8.00 (one I had bought on sale)
  • cheese- $1.00
  • sour cream- $0.50
  • salsa- $1.00
  • green salad- leftovers

Total cost for this day: $10.50

Running Total Budget for the 30 days used:

Groceries purchased: $567.10

Groceries used in meals: $229.57

Date Night: $74.33

Pizza: $94.29

Our budget for these 3 for the 30 days is: Groceries- $600, Date Nights- $100 & Pizza- $100 Since we may not use all the groceries purchased in this time, and will be using some things we have on hand already, we will be tracking both the running total of the best estimated cost of meals each day as well as the cost of groceries/date nights/pizza purchased during the 30 days.
