by A to Z for Moms Like Me

Being a Saturday everyone was home for the day. My hubby & I like to go on a date on Saturday’s for breakfast or lunch. It’s usually cheaper than dinners and we usually have errands to run earlier in the day anyway so it works out great. Outside of that, breakfast & lunch are pretty laid back and end up being easy things such as cereal, sandwiches, leftovers, and sometimes the kids will make eggs & pancakes or grilled cheese sandwiches or something. Rarely does everyone all eat the same thing for these 2 meals.

About mid morning my hubby and I decided to go to run errands and go on a breakfast date. We went to Golden Corral to try out their breakfast. The total cost for this date was just under $20 for food & tip, but we forgot to keep the receipt so we’ll just call it $20.

For dinner, we had a potluck BBQ at my parents house. We took my BBQ Baked Beans as the potluck dish. (the one everyone loves) And marinated some chicken out of the freezer. Everything we took was things we had on hand so there wasn’t really any cost, but for the sake of this 30 day budget I will assign the cost as best as possible.

  • Chicken- $4.00
  • BBQ Baked Beans, made- $3.00

Total cost of this day: $27

Total Budget for the 30 days used:

Groceries purchased: $275.00

Groceries used in meals: $36.79

Date Night: $20

Pizza: $10.68

Our budget for these 3 for the 30 days is: Groceries- $600, Date Nights- $100 & Pizza- $100 Since we may not use all the groceries purchased in this time we will be tracking both the cost of meals each day as well as the cost of groceries/date nights/pizza purchased during the 30 days. See our grocery trip posts to see a tally of those purchases.
