This recipe is one that I get asked for all the time. It’s become the #1 requested thing for me to bring to any potluck. It’s really easy and we always have everything to make it on hand anyway so there’s no running to the store for special ingredients.

The only ingredient you may have a little trouble finding is the golden raisins. This is the only recipe I make that uses them, so when I buy a box of them it will usually last me 4-5 batches of this recipe and stores well between.

Ingredients

  • 4-5 cans of Pork & Beans
  • 1 apple- chopped into small pieces
  • 1 onion- chopped
  • 1/2 c. bacon crumbled
  • 1/4 c. golden raisins
  • 1 1/2- 2 c. brown sugar (depending on how sweet you like it)
  • 2 c. KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce (this brand only- there will be a difference)

Instructions

Mix everything together and you can either microwave it for 20 minutes, or bake it in the oven for 1 hour at 350 degrees.

I just eyeball the ingredient amounts and don't measure them really, so this would be my best guess as to the amounts. 

The BBQ sauce HAS to be KC Masterpiece...... seriously, this is one of the few recipes I don't use any other brand/flavor.  There will be a huge difference and it just doesn't ever turn out as good with any other brand/flavor.

The apples and raisins seem like weird ingredients, but a lot of the time people wont even notice what they are and they do add a unique flavor so I would advise keeping them in!  (Even my kids who don't like raisins love this recipe)

Notes

This recipe is very flexible and can be stretched to feed more or less people by just adjusting the # of cans of beans & the other ingredients a little.
