Growing up we made these mints for every wedding my mom did. They are fairly easy to make and can be made weeks in advance and frozen until ready to serve. Best of all, you can customize their color and design with the mold of choice.

For example, my brother’s wedding theme was sunflowers, so we used sun flower molds and make them in yellow, orange, and brown. When one of my sisters got married we did burgundy roses and mint colored leaves.

Getting the size and technique down can be tricky at first, but as you make them you’ll get the hang of it. It’s a great project to have kids help with!

We always flavor ours with peppermint extract, but technically you could use any flavor of extract you want.

Cream Cheese Mints

Serves: 20 Prep Time:

  • 2- 8oz cream cheese
  • 3-4# bag of powdered sugar
  • 2 t. peppermint extract
  • food coloring of choice


Mix all ingredients together well.  If it's too sticky add more powdered sugar (it will seem dry at first, but keep mixing it together) You want it the consistency of a VERY thick frosting. Add the coloring you want until you get the desired color. Once it's mixed together roll small amounts into a ball and then roll the ball in sugar and push into a mold.  Once the mold is full flip it over and pop them out.  Let mints sit out for a hour or two to set up and get hard on the outside.  Once they are set up you can freeze them or serve them.
