GRILLED CHEESE SLOPPY JOES

A friend posted this idea last year and so we made them, oh my goodness they were GOOD! Up until this experiment I had never made sloppy joe’s, but my family really enjoys these.

It only takes a few minutes to make. A suggestion I advise is to use individually sliced American cheese- it really has the best flavor combination for this sandwich.

Grilled Cheese Sloppy Joe's

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion- diced
  • 1 green pepper- diced
  • 3 T minced garlic
  • 2 T mustard
  • 1 1/2 c. Ketchup
  • 1/3 c. brown sugar

Instructions

Brown the ground beef.  Add the onion, peppers, and garlic and cook for a couple of minutes then add the rest of the ingredients and stir until combined.

Add a spoonful of the sloppy joe mixture onto a slice of bread with a slice of American cheese on both sides of the sloppy joe mixture.  Grill sandwiches as you normally would. (I butter each outside slice of bread to help them grill well)
