by A to Z for Moms Like Me

This day was a little abnormal in a way since my youngest daughter and I spent the day at my sister’s house which is 45 minutes away from our house. It is close by to the nearest Costco however so we did some grocery shopping there before we came home. (See Grocery Trip 2 post)

Breakfast was typical for everyone, cereal or toast, etc.. Everyone else had lunch at school, my sister bought lunch for my daughter and I while we were helping her, and my hubby bought his lunch out of his own spending money. So it wasn’t our typical day, but it’s life!

For dinner, my daughter and I weren’t home yet. We ended up getting a pizza at Costco on our way home and that was our dinner with enough left over for some of the other kids to have a slice when we got home, and a couple slices for breakfast for some the next morning too. For my hubby and the rest of the kids they made grilled chicken salad & leftovers using some chicken we had in the freezer from a really good sale we stocked up on last month (we got it for about $1.40/lb) and the rest of the salad bag we didn’t need the night before.

I asked my husband to take pictures of their dinner so I could post it on this blog as part of the 30 day posts and these were the pictures he sent me. You got to love how the ugliest plates we own are used….. oh well, now I have a good reason to buy new plates! 😀

Total Cost for this day: $15.68

  • Pizza $10.68
  • Chicken (estimating since we already had it in the freezer) $3.00
  • Salad $2.00
  • Leftovers- FREE

Total Budget for the 30 days used:

Groceries purchased: $275.00

Groceries used in meals: $29.79

Date Night: $0

Pizza: $10.68

Our budget for these 3 for the 30 days is: Groceries- $600, Date Nights- $100 & Pizza- $100 Since we may not use all the groceries purchased in this time we will be tracking both the cost of meals each day as well as the cost of groceries/date nights/pizza purchased during the 30 days. See our grocery trip posts to see a tally of those purchases.
