These meatballs were probably the best I’ve ever made! I got the idea from a video I saw on facebook one day and decided to try my own version of the recipe.

I used cut up cheese sticks for inside the meatballs. But as a result when the meatballs were done the cheese was it’s normal consistency. In hindsight, instead of using cut up cheese sticks for inside the meatballs, a fresh mozzarella would be better. Fresh mozzarella would give a melted texture when the meatball is cut open.

The nice thing about these meatballs is they cook in the crock pot or slow cooker. That way you can make them in the morning and have them for dinner. They’d make a perfect party appetizer too!

Cheese Stuffed Meatballs

  • 2# ground beef
  • 2# ground sausage
  • 2 T Garlic, Salt & Pepper Seasoning mix
  • 2 cups bread crumbs
  • 1/2 shredded parmesan cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. parsley
  • Mozzarella- cheese balls, sliced fresh, or cheese sticks
  • 3 jars spaghetti sauce


Mix together the ground beef, sausage, seasonings, bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, eggs, milk, & parsley until everything is combined.  *Note over mixing will make tough meatballs.

Pour some spaghetti sauce in the bottom of the crock pot, and be sure to add some between meatball layers to prevent them from sticking to each other while they cook.
Scoop a small ball size of the meat mixture and place some mozzarella cheese in the center then cover well with meat.  Continue making meatballs in this way and placing them into a crock pot making layers with the sauce until all the meat mixture is used.  

Pour the remaining sauce on top.

Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
