WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR PUMPKINS

by A to Z for Moms Like Me

Halloween is over, and you have a few pumpkins on your porch. If you painted them instead of carving them you may be wondering what to do with your pumpkins.

There are a few options!

If you have chickens, pigs, or horses, or even live in a rural area you probably already know that pumpkins left cut up and outside will get devoured by happy wildlife and animals.

But if you live in a suburb or city that option may not be available.

This is what we do with our pumpkins every year… watch the video below:

Once we have the puree we will either use it up within a couple days, or freeze it in ziploc bags. I MAY experiment with freeze drying some this year- we’ll see!

Uses for the Puree

You can use this puree for anything you would use canned pumpkin for- pies, cookies, bread, pumpkin rolls, dips, etc.

Bonus Plants next year!

You can always roast your pumpkin seeds, some really love eating them. But we always prefer to spread ours out in an area that isn’t being used in our yard- if pumpkins grow there next year, great! If nothing grows then there’s no loss.
